it gets worse before it gets better
that's what your best friend said in the letter
all the pictures are still on the shelf
& you're barely making rent by yourself
your mom is worried for your health
you said it right from the start
these sorts of things fall apart
you take the subway home after work
from your job as a retail clerk
you're spending all the money you've saved
records keep the quiet away
up all night and sleep all day
he said it right from the start
these sorts of things fall apart

This song was a comfort to me in the days/weeks/months after losing my cat Max, after 19 years together, in June 2024. The song isn't about the same situation, but the ache of loss and the bittersweet pang of remembrance running through this song absolutely resonated for me anyway. dyingtickles
The Cleveland band temper uncompromising metalcore breakdowns with infectious jangle-pop melodies and ample dark humor.

Beautiful songwriting, less is so much more. I don't know how someone could make a record so catchy while also being heartbreaking in a fun way. rahlinrigsby
